At Huangpu District you have access to Guangzhou City’s outstanding education system which is the No.1 talent source in South China. WERIDE ROBOBUSES ON GUANGZHOU INTERNATIONAL BIOISLAND
WeRide, an autonomous driving startup in Huangpu District, launched its Robobuses on Guangzhou International Bio Island in 2022.
The Robobuses are electric vehicles that feature no steering wheels, accelerators, or brakes, and are designed with a maximum speed of 40 kilometres per hour. They can ensure stable, safe and eco-friendly operations on urban open roads, express roads and tunnels, during peak traffic hours, and on rainy and snowy days.
HUANGPU – A KEY LOCATION FOR CHINAS NEW MOBILITY AUTOMAKERS (XPENG)
XPENG is a leading Chinese Smart EV company that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets Smart EVs. XPENG develops in-house its full-stack advanced driver-assistance system technology and in-car intelligent operating system, as well as core vehicle systems. XPENG is headquartered in Guangzhou, with main offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Silicon Valley, San Diego and Amsterdam.
Huangpu District’s automotive cluster enables XPENG to design, build and test their cars in the same mobility ecosystem.
In February 2023, XPENG opened their new production facility in Huangpu. The plant has an annual production capacity of 120,000 vehicles and manufactures the flagship G9 model (among others). In Q3 2023, the XPENG G9 SUV has successfully obtained the Guangzhou Intelligent Connected Vehicle Passenger Test Permit, and the testing area covers all general testing roads in Guangzhou, most of them in Huangpu District. Users in Huangpu District can hail a G9 Robotaxi through a mini-program app on WeChat, marking a significant step in the accessibility and adoption of autonomous vehicles

As the primary pillar industry in Guangzhou, the automobile industry enjoys a solid foundation, a sound industrial system, and an improving brand quality. Guangzhou has planned that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, it will establish an intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry fund of 10 billion yuan, increase the industrial scale to 1.5 trillion yuan, and build a globally competitive trillion-yuan level „city of smart cars“.
